A majority of us will try to make sense of things, things that sometimes do not make sense. Science will try to add in its formulas and test results will come back negative, yet as the veil between the invisible and physical world becomes as thin a spider web, there will be no more trying to make sense. It will be only to accept what is.
I heard about her sleep paralysis story from a family friend, the feeling of being held down as she was asleep or half asleep. The feeling of fear as she tried to move her body and scream for someone to come help her, all but useless as she was experiencing sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis is a temporary inability to move or speak that occurs when you’re waking up or falling asleep. It’s not harmful and should pass in a few seconds or minutes, but can be very frightening.
For as long as I can remember, my Mom called sleep paralysis, ma đè, translated from Vietnamese into, being held down by a ghost. When I heard of Jane’s sleep paralysis story and how it kept happening to her even when she would move downstairs to sleep on the couch, I ended up tapping into her auric field to get a sense of what or specifically, who was holding her down.
In Turkey, sleep paralysis is called karabasan, and is similar to other stories of demonic visitation during sleep.
In Nigeria, “ISP appears to be far more common and recurrent among people of African descent than among whites or Nigerian, Africans,” and is often referred to within African communities as “the devil on your back.”
Around our world are beliefs that sleep paralysis is not just the scientific definition in which :
During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, dreaming is frequent, but the body’s muscles are relaxed to the point of paralysis, perhaps to keep people from acting out their dreams. Researchers have found that two brain chemicals, glycine and GABA, are responsible for this muscle paralysis.
So why are some of us so quick to dismiss that sleep paralysis could be more than two brain chemicals responsible for this muscle paralysis?
I closed my eyes as I sat in the corner of Jane’s room and inhaled to prepare. I exhaled out to begin the session as I felt my soul move outside of my physical body and into the fourth dimension. That’s when I saw him. He was afraid and scared, this eighteen year old spirit who had scars on his face, daily reminders of his childhood. I wanted to reach out my hand to touch him, but he retracted back in fear.
Oh, my heart, my soul cried, who did this to you? I wanted to know, but that was not my purpose, my goal was to find and fix the problem of Jane’s sleep paralysis.
This boy looked at me then and I smiled at him, to tell him that I wasn’t there to hurt him but to help him. I could sense his acceptance as I opened up the Light above. He did not understand what was happening as I reached out my hand. I nodded my head and waited for as long as it took for him to come near me.
I would walk him to the Light myself.
I don’t remember how long I sat there in lotus position as the tears streamed down my face. I don’t remember how long it took for him to come towards me so that we could walk together towards the Light, all I remember was when his lost soul touched the first beam of Light. I remember how his scars faded and showed his handsome face and how he smiled at me and thanked me.
I remembered his hand waving at me as he walked into the Light, into God’s arms.
Jane’s sleep paralysis faded from every three to four days to once every two weeks then after a month, she forgot about them altogether.
A majority of us will try to make sense of things, things that sometimes do not make sense. I didn’t know much about glycine and GABA, the two brain chemicals researchers have labeled as responsible for the paralysis, but I do know this. That there are lost souls and entities and demons who walk and float around our Earth plane. I know that there are some that cause pain and fear on purpose and that the nightmares people have are supposed to scare you.
I also know that there are some spirits on this Earth plane in limbo, not knowing they have a choice to leave or not understanding why they’re still on this plane so they do things to get attention, like sitting on you while you sleep or causing panic to wake you up.
“Why, Carol? Why would they do this?” I’ve been asked many times before.
“There are so many reasons, so many, as there is not one fluid answer, but in my experience, it’s because they can.”
What can you do if you are experiencing sleep paralysis?
- Breathe. We sometimes forget to breathe as fear grips our soul.
- Imagine your room barricaded in white blocks of love and safety or in a white bright chain link fence that nothing can come into as you prepare to rest.
- Before you close your eyes, remind yourself you are safe, you are sound and nothing can hurt or affect you.
- Call upon your Higher Power or Source, your guides and angels to be with and protect you as you sleep.
- Instead of being fearful, be angry at whoever is disrupting your beauty sleep. Spirits and demons feed upon fear, they’ll be more reluctant to mess with you if you’re angry at them.
- If all else fails, find someone versed in the spirit realm to help you release the spirit/demon in your home or attached to your aura.
